My first K98 Bayonet

Hi guys,

today I received this K98 Bayonet and it's my first. I know the bayonet is pretty beat up, but it was found in a barn in the provence of Zeeland in the Netherlands. It may sound crazy but I like the way it looks and I will give it a nice spot in my small cabinet. I did some research on the markings, but I'm a newbie whe it comes to bajonets, so correct me if I'm wrong.
42CUL: Production in 1942 by Ernst Pack & Sohne, Solingen. And I guess 2326 j must be the serialnumber.
This bajonet got me interested and I think I'm going to look for another one, complete with the sheath

The designation of marking is correct, S84/98 bayonet heavy rust was cleaned. b.r.Andy

Hi Dschop ...if it appeals to you..then this find is perfect. What adds provenance is that it was a barn find...in the actual area where German soldiers were stationed or crossing.

This was not found in Uncles Eds shed in the back of the some vets garage..but if it were me..I too would be excited of an actual barn find on the battle premises.
Pay no mind to those purists or dealers that say.."this is worthless junk".... They see $$$ ...I see history that slept in the very spot it fell asleep in.

Yes I said it looks rough, but in a good way. I really like the bayonet and that old smell
