A standard issue Seitengewehr or 98k bayonet. It is missing the scabbard and has no frog or leather holder. We don't offer appraisal here but I
imagine this would not be valued very highly. If your grandfather gave it to you as a war souvenir I would prize it for that family connection. NH

I don't know where my grandfather got it, he never served in the armed forces. He was too young for WWI, too old for WWII. I have a scabbard, but I don't think it goes with this bayonet because the bayonet won't go in the scabbard all the way - the hilt won't touch the scabbard - about a 3/16" to 1/4" gap, and there are no numbers on the scabbard.
You should be able to see a date stamp on the
spine of the blade.........
