The info on Waffenamt codes, that I checked didnt have any info on the code (might be incomplete cource though).
Ive read about some post war Czech Mauser pattern rifle barrels (not bayonets) marked 'JJ.'
Others will know what the code stands for.
With every 10,000 bayonets the letter suffix under the serial no. changed and they started over again with the next 10,000,so you can have 5993h,5993i,5993j,after they ran through the alphabet once they went to double suffixes,so you can have 5993hh,5993ii,5993jj.....clear as mud??
JEDEM DAS SEINE
Clear as a the sky on a cloudy night over Williston Lake!
Nah, I got it - quite clear, thank you
But what is the 43asw for?
(...and who is on first base...?)
EDIT Found it:
WaA519

F. u. K. Hörster

Just in case you need to see photos of more bayonets - my favourite site !

In 1943 Hörster made it into at least the "zz" serial number block. Which I think would give some kind of approximation as to when this one was made. FP
