In the photos it looks to me like a short dress bayonet that someone has put into a standard blued (underneath the rust) service bayonet scabbard in a tropical frog. With in my experience the earlier vintage DAK bayonets/frogs from veterans having the German S 84/98, which seems to have been repeated with the returning Australian and NZ soldiers. And with the DAK photos that come to mind, but there is always room for new period photos to expand the data base. Regards, Fred

Yes you are right FP. This is a standard German S84/98 scabbard... with rust on the surface. Some put the Extra-Seitengewehr in this scabbard.

Can you show the frog a little bit better? Are they any stamps or a maker mark?
