Interesting modified S98/05 from a relatively uncommon maker/blade supplier.

Not sure on the marking - "B. S." = Brunswick Schutzpolizei but recorded markings do include the "P".

    Hello,

why please do you think this is a police unit stamp?

In such cases the original german stamp regulations are importend as the main source.

BSP 531 is NOT a german police unit stamp.... and the removing of a part of the guard isn´t a typical german Police modification.

Braunschweig hasn´t a own unit mark, because in Braunschweig was only a Polizeidirektion.... and this Region was a Part of the Hannover Police-Distrikt...
The Stamps started always with S (Schutzpolizei) or L (Landjägerei) or K (Kriminalpolizei) or a G (Gendamerie)... then the District follows... inferior Policedepartments like Braunschweig for example get a roman number or a letter ( in the third or fourth position)... B, for exaple, is Berlin... and the Schutzpolizei Berlin was stamped S.B. (always with a . )

Also the letters has a wrong size and form. And 99,9 % of the german police S98/05 bear the 1920 or 1921 stamp.

The shown bayonet is a polish or jugoslavian used 98/05 after 1918. The stamp can be a early polish one from a infantry batailon.
But the bayonet itself looks loke a jugoslavian alteration to made a M24B (pommel like a M24, blade reformed... missing hook).

    Regards

    Thank you for the information!
    Please explain this your opinion:
"The shown bayonet is a polish or jugoslavian used 98/05 after 1918. The stamp can be a early polish one from a infantry batailon."
What can you say about the opinion that this is BahnSchutzPolizei?

The blade was reworked to a form with parallel sides... the "nose" of the hilt is removed and the guard lose its Hook.
These three things looks like a rework in the M24 direktion, like the jugoslavian made it.
This is not a german rework.

The Bahnpolizei or Bahnschutz, after 1939 called Bahnschutzpolizei, was a Part of the Reichsbahn and not a own Organisation.
The Bahnschutz / Bahnschutzpolizei was affiliated to the Reichsbahndirektionen.

Bayonets of the Bahnschutz / Bahnschutzpolizei bears never BSP or something like that, but Bz. (for Bahnschutz(polizei) ) + Number of the Reichsbahndirektion, D.R. (for Deutsche Reichsbahn) + Number or RBD (Reichsbahndirketion) + the shortname or the Number of the Reichsbahndirktion or only the Shortname of the RBD with a Number (for Example SBR for Saarbrücken and HL for Halle an der Saale).
