ps there is two of the same markings on the K98 that i am not quite sure of could some help me with this it is just below the top of the eagle. here is a picture of the marks. thanks john

Hi John , the two markings are waffenampt stamps and are indeed markings made on a piece to say it has passed the level of quality reqd. by the authorities. Can you check on the scabbard to see if there is another on the ball ?

red = wehrmacht ,armed forces,flak,
Green = jager formation,police unit's
golden yellow = aviation formations
Light green = aviation supervisory troop's
Brown = aviation communication's troops
i think i am not far away with thease colours Dan, hope this help's guys
