Undated bayonet

I have a Russian capture K98 with wartime WaffenAmts on all but one small part of the rear sight. In that case, the reason for it being there is obvious. With the bayonet, it sounds as if it was in the midst of the transitional stage from 'Weimar' style eagles to wartime ones, as Fred has already said.
As with anything, though, photographs are imperative. A written description can only go so far, and there are some characteristics of items that simply cannot be explained in writing.
