    Default Undated K98 bayonet marked S/174G - 1935?

I have this undated K98 bayonet. It is marked S/174G for WKC, and the S/N matches both blade and scabbard, 3741f. It is, however, apparently undated. Is there any way to assign a date to the manufacture of this item?
    Thanks in advance!

And, while waiting for photos to upload, I went back to the K98 bayonets data and registry page, and lo and behold, there is my answer. It should be a 1935 specimen. If anyone has any other information, I'd be glad to hear it.

On the other hand, now I'm still looking for a 1937 to fill an empty hole.

Thank you. I am trying to get one from each year of the Reich, or at least 1934-1944. I've not ever seen an actual 1945 example, except on the k98 bayonet web site, so figure those must be very rare.

Indeed, quite rare - I have yet to find one as well.

The site shows an estimated number of bayonets produced
in the first few months of 1945 before the Third Reich
    came to an end.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

    Very good looking example.

G is indeed 1935. The other date letter code used was K for 1934.

Hi all, new to this. I also have an S/172.G (non matching) However it does not fit a 1937 model k.98k. Does it go on the earlier mauser? Cheers. ps. It's unsharpened with most blueing remaining, how rare are these, if at all?

Hi Funkel, the S/172G code is for Carl Eickhorn made in 1935 and fairly common,I believe the grip plates on yours have been replaced as Eichkorn used wood grips until about 1938,the rarer code is S/172 1940, here is a website you can look through..k98 bayonets data and registry

Roger9344: that's a great looking bayonet. I really like the condition of the wood grips. Great bayo!

Cool, cheers mate. So does it fit on the earlier Mauser? I have an 1937 mod.98 k98k and it does not even attempt to fit seems, to have a smaller guide.
