I found this dagger at an antiques store and would like to know about it so I can do a little research. This is the only pic I have right now. Where on it do I need to look for makers marks and signs of authenticity. Will get more pics when I go back. Thanks!

A Luftwaffe 1st pattern dagger.
On the blade near the hilt should be a maker's mark. Scabbard looks pretty messed.

Be very cautious here, they are highly copied and valueless if they are not real. From that one picture, it is an aluminum model and that is the one most copied. Take close up pictures and don't buy it unless you are dead certain it is real. The scabbard can be recovered with leather by Tom Whittmann or other dealers who do such work. The real value is in the blade condition and the maker.
