Hi Tony.....the markings on the blade appears to have been recently scratched in..which does not math the condition of the dulled blade. That detracts alot of value from the dagger itself. Can you side view photo of the throat..as it gives the appearance of being aluminum..on the top shot looking down..yet the side view does not match the patina of the rest of the dagger. ( It looks to have been replaced )

I will move this thread to the Luftwaffe forum. Regards Larry

    Hi Tony

the shape of the throat doesnt look that clean in shape.
Compare it with a mint one, a total textbook SMF nickel silver one.
The K on the side of the crossguard is the casters initial, till now not a known caster.

    Tony -

This is a NSFK knife which is reflected by the marking on the throat which is Icarus winged man symbol - the other marking is an ordnance marking - reflects a letter "H",inside the legs of the H are the characters, "F" & "36"-

Tony i have been looking into the Unit engraving on the blade, and there is a thread on a German Forum about a similar marking.
In this particular case not on the blade but on the throat.
The engraving on the blade seems to be a period one, and it matches the one i found, probably these markings were in use with that NSFK unit located in Rudelstadt:
    NSFK-Standarte 43, Sturm 6/43 in Rudolstadt / Thüringen, Ratsgasse 8
    RDL would be Rudolstadt

To my eyes, the unit marking on the blade appears to be from an electric hand engraver.
