Never considered a broken pin, I'm not one to force anything apart it took me a couple days of playing with it to get it apart. After your reply I took a closer look
(used jewelers loop) it is a broken pin, I got it apart now my question is can anyone recommend a place to have it restored with out destroying the value? Thanks again

Ok I see now. That makes more sense now and by the way nice to have you with us.
I would leave as is as the cost can be very high to repair.
With some luck you may be able to find another Bolster,but I still like it all the same.

My guess as to the personalization is spoils of war worked for friendly's also!?

Yes it did indeed.
Here is my Bundeswehr gravity knife1963pattern.
some parts will interchange but not the same fashion.

At the risk or reviving a dead thread... some other helpful information on Gravity knives. The original poster's knife had R.B.Nr code 0/0561/0019. Many of these codes are murky now as to who was the manufacturer, but not this one. This code and in fact 0/0561/0018-0020 found on Gravity knives is for Paul Weyersberg manufacturing at Solingen (0561).
