    Curt, i guess you mean the waffenamt mark, also called a stick bird.
    My understanding is these marks where applied to the edged weapons, mainly AFTER they where issued. The quality control agents would visit active Luftwaffe stations and offices to check and 'stamp' the relevant issued edged weapons. They obviously could only asses the sidearms that where there at the time, and given that most edged swords and daggers where worn as 'dress' sidearms, they would not be taken to work as such. This would explain why so many genuine items are not marked.

    Text Book SMF 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger. Very Nice
    SMF is known for the Gold gilt to stick and remain longer than other produced types.
