    Hello gentlemen,
I have come across a Luftwaffe 2nd model dagger with a stamp on the front of the blade "JG Merz". Can anyone give any insight to this marking and if any existed in reality on period blades. I will post photos soon. Was Merz a company working with the Luftwaffe on experimental projects?

It's probably the name of the dealers/trading co. who originally sold the dagger. Although not common, this type of engraving is found on daggers of the 3 main services from time to time.

Now there is something you don't see everyday and should make for a great discussion. This is a great pic Ned!

    Hi Larry,

It's not mine i'm afraid, I lifted it off Wittmann's site ages ago I think, along with this one who was a uniform tailor/supplier and probably had a contract with Alcoso to supply these so he could offer them with uniforms bought from one of his two shops.

    Regards, Ned.

Well I the pictures I have are rather poor. The marking is not as nice as your example that you posted Ned.

So do you guys think this mark is appropriate on a Holler marked Luftwaffe 2nd model?

    I don't see a problem with it.

But it was certainly badly applied.

    Cheers, Ade.
