That dagger/letter opener is an absolute beauty Kevin.
It is certainly the first one I have seen with the makers mark. (I have led a very sheltered life!!)
The quality looks to be far superior to the one I just had delivered.
Now if they all looked similar to the one you have posted I would certainly think about branching out.
All the best

i was tempted to put it in a vice and try twisting the pommel around to the correct position but decided to leave it as it is.g

It is not the size of a Collection in History that matters......Its the size of your Passion for it!!

Seen a lot of those so called salesman examples and i confirm kevins statement, they do come with gripwire.
SMF is a common maker for these beauty's and Kevins example is a lovely one!
Yours has a worn blade and misses the gripwire but is still a lovely Original piece!
Lovely grip colour and thx for sharing

Thank you once again for all your replies they were all very helpful.
After mentioning about the cased letter opener I decided to hunt it down in my boxes.
I found it and Kevin, Ger it does have the SMF logo.
I have started a new thred here:
Cased Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern Denazified
I am hoping that you may be able to have an input again.
Best regards
