Hi Pete,, neat little miniature you have. My only concern is the blade shoulder to crossguard fit is not tight,, shows a gap. I feel others need to chime in on this one. Regards Larry

I think it's a good miniature. The 'knot' is the same as on the dagger below.
Don't know who made these, but they seem to be of good quality.
Mine was $350. Normally, miniatures are about 1/3rd smaller
than full size, where this type is about 1/2 size.........

    Thanks for your input.
    It certainly looks well built.
The only concern was as larry said about the gap under the crossguards.
I payed $100 kiwi dollars for it so cant go wrong with that

Interesting little 1st Mod Luft. I've never seen one with the metal grip before, but as Steve said, the portapee is proper and the number of rings on the chain hanger is the correct normal also. Some of these miniatures were extremely meticulous and some, such as this one, were not. You find them with makers advertising on the blades and even the blue leather on the scabbards and leather and wire on the grips. This one seems to have the age to it and the basic construction details such as the notches on the scabbard mounts, etc. I think the gap on the blade by the guard would be fine if it were not missing the original felt disc. For a hundred bucks, you can't go too far wrong, in any case. As you said, it would make a cool letter opener, if nothing else!

Ofcourse daaaa the felt disc...might explain gap etc.
Its a weighty piece and if it is a fake it was done a while ago
