    Hi all.

I recently picked up this first model Luftwaffe dagger and when I removed the portapee it revealed what I believe may be flight marks on the underside of the guard. See the photos below, but the markings are "St. K. III 254". The numbers are mirrored on the scabbard throat surface.

I'm curious to find out more information about what exactly "flight marks" are, if they're significant, and if this specific mark is familiar to anyone on the forum who can provide details related to it.

Hi Darren..these flight gruppe markings are quite common on these 1st Lufts..but not all of them. Carrier Preference.

Someone who studies these flight gruppes might be able to identify which group it belonged to. Just out of curiousity who is the producer?

So possibly linked to this unit, formed at Lippstadt, North Rhine-Westphalia on 1.4.37, as Stab. III/KG254, it evolved into other units until it became 3/KG54 on 1.5.39. Here's a link to their wartime activities.
