    Guys,

    Re - WW2 Luft Take-Down Gravity Knife

I've extended the blade to check its condition and now find that I can't get it to retract! The lever mechanisim works but I don't think it pulls the locking hook out far enough. When the release mechanism is in the forward position the blade is locked tightly in position and when in the mid position the blade rattles but will not drop back into the handle. Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated.

    Rgds, Chris.

P.S. The blade is good, it's just got a smear of grease on it!

Hey Chris, this looks to me like a nice original example.
You are in luck as this is a "takedown" model.
Just push in the square button and pull the top fitting off and see what the blade is hanging up on.
The rattle thing on these is common so don't let it bother you too much.
The big thing with these is that the steel they made these with was not tempered right and they want to break. You need to be careful as they are past their warranty
