Agreed, 2 of my rings have repairs to the bands and I don't worry about that.

Restaurated and new plated or fake....for me no big difference.
For sure i wouldn`t want it in collection.

How likely is what, the replating?

Absolutely agreed Odal. It's a shame... But hopefully the buyer can get his money back?
Personally, I would only want to keep those pieces that I can be totally certain about. Looks like a lot of red flags with these here..?

Glenn: how likely is this: you stick a shovel in the ground, and up come 2 freshly restored and re-plated rings? 😃
After all they were not sold as such-restored- or am I wrong?
As I understand it they were sold as originals coming fresh out of the ground...
Something strange here, it looks like. Red flags? I should think so...

My 2 repaired rings were identified as such prior to purchase. As to the rings of Eike41, perhaps he can answer your question directly.

I purchased a fairly rare ring some time ago from Maxim. I specifically requested that he have it repaired before being sent. His jeweler did an excellent job-far better than I could have had one here in the States- and I am very satisfied with it. It was only a trifling spot on the shank bottom, in any case.

Care to share a photo of your ring please, William?
