Wouldn't an Italian ring be hallmarked ?
I would be more inclined to think North African manufacture with the Arabic Inscription .

Yes, if noble metal.
But a lot of this italian DAK rings are a kind of brass and plated.
Nevertheless wonderful little artworks.
its a nice original example of a dak ring
odal is 100% correct in his description of this ring
I talked to someone thats Persian. Its not arabic
It means derna, which translated from farci to english
Means "strike"
Sorry, Todd, but that makes no sense to me. According to bonny in a post above, the Arabic letters say 'Derna', which is a town in Libya. The DAK was certainly there.
On the other hand, why would any DAK ring be inscribed in Farsi, a Persian language? Persia (modern Iran) is the most easterly of nations in the Middle East. It is not in Africa. I'm not sure that the Germans military got as far as Persia in WWII.
Hi Stephen!
I Showed that RING to both a person at work that spoke arabic.
And he said that the lettering wasn't in arabic.
And he said show it to a friend of ours that spoke farci that works as a diplomat here in canada. And he said its farci and that it means strike.
I really like the italian made details on the outter band.
Very nice
I have 3 pictures
1) being the rings lettering
Take a close look!
2) being the word DERNA IN FARSI
look at the lettering and the 1 dot
Same as the ring!
3)being the word DERNA IN ARABIC
different! and has 3 dots
Wonder why the word DERNA is in farsi?
And not arabic? On this italian made ring
