Here a pic of a sure period one of this pattern for comparing:
I've edited the picture of the members ring for comparison to the known original.
The members ring,
And the known original,
I see quite a few differences. The detail of the wings and wreath around the eagle. The detail of what appears to be walnuts? as well as the eagles face. In fact, the detail appears to be off in every aspect of the members ring once compared to the known original. Even the diameter doesn't seem the same, but that could be due impart to the angle of the image. Better photographs are a must for determining authenticity.
Add: The swastika appears to be different, too. I don't think all the differences can be attributed to the wear, either, but again, better pictures would be helpful.
i will get better pics...although i cand see differences,NOT in construction and no means in detection of a repop, compared to the newly listed ring it is in great shape, mine is worn and worn bad...my ring had been in a lock box since 1968 gathered from my godfather at the BOTB along with one other ring, well two..anyway it was said different makers made jewlery one being best known for this style of ring.i know the "minefeild"! it's annoying and confusing!!! so lets not "jump" to any conclusions on real or repro. ok? can the BACK of this ring be shot as well as a side, not just a front shot? its 6am.here in Erie&im going for coffee...take care and HAPPY HUNTING all!!!
I'm not jumping to any conclusions. I don't think your image shows enough detail to make a proper judgement yet. It is possible that the wear could be the cause of the differences I see, too. Can't wait to see the new pictures, thanks.
@ youthcollector1: much thanks for help
@ derwood58: good pics are the key and, yes, hard wearing can be of course a reason for differences. I think your ring has less wearing than mine. Only your pic is not so clear.
look here - 3 period rings of this pattern - different wearing or swastika removed:
I know no malice is intended! My camera is sh#tty i will do my best at taking pictures, they WILL be up soon. Thanks youthcollecter1!!!
I have another ring(well a couple, along w/some fakes!)That has been copied but not too much as far as i know,It's a LOC totenkopf panzer assault ring, designed after TANK BADGE FOR THE LEGION CONDOR Type 2...
It's a terrible fake. I would recommend getting it checked through a specialist though!
Peace!
