Thank you. I‘m glad you like the ring. It’s on of my favourites.
The blank boxes are usually engraved, most often with the regiment or unit name, and other things like place (España or town) and/or date. I guess the original owner never got around to having it engraved.
He was Karl Engels. The seller gave me a picture of him. Apparently, he was a member of the Herman Göring Falschirmjäger Flak Regiment in Spain. I have a photo of him somewhere; probably hidden in a book.
