The patination does look a little 'contrived' to be sure but the wear could be believable. Take a look at how the 'West Wall' on my silver example has been lost to wear.

I thought mine was similar to your West wall , Glen66 . But when closely compared there is little similar . Mine also is very worn , the band is very thin almost sharp . Which I do not think this is fake ware . But it is hard to know when this ring was made or where . The very similar crossed bones with "C" type bone is very interesting . And I was pleased to hear the Thor explanation . Looking forward to more information .
