not at all... I'm on a huge learning curve with this and it just landed in my lap. I've never had anything of this caliber. Hence my excitement to post it here. I have no interest in keeping the ring and its right out of the woodwork. I also think the info I'm learning is important enough that post about it... maybe it will be useful information for others.

If it were me i'd be saving up the $300 to get the ring authenticted and thereby probably tripling the value on the market. Without reliable verification and only the seller's claim of authenticity to go by, the risk premium is passed to the buyer and that carries with it a cost far in excess of $300.

Very interesting thread to be sure. I hope you find that this is a good one, and it very much seems to be so. I'd also like to add my vote to getting the verification, I know $300 is a lot of money for a verification, but then it'd be pretty much unimpeachable, and you'd most likely be adding value to it. I hope you get a good price for your ring, and welcome to WRF.

Well, DB has looked at the ring. He thinks its not authentic. This has to be the best copy of anything I've ever seen. I may have CG take a look for a second opinion. Gutted...

Would it be bad selling it to CG as an original since he is so knowldgable?
Did "DB" comment on what makes the ring bad? I would like to learn.

It would be interesting to get Gottlieb's opinion on it now. I wonder if he'll agree with Don and if he offers a price to you.

I agree about being the "best copies of anything I've ever seen." I purchased an SS Ehrenring (S. Lb Brumm) from someone in Belgium, and it was EXTREMELY convincing. Fortunately, I didn't pay a tremendous amount for it. I only found out it was a fake after locating the owner of the REAL ring (S. Lb. Brumm). Needless to say, I was disappointed, but not overly shocked. The folks that are making these are very gifted. I had mine "authenticated" by a respected Jeweler on the date of construction, metal content, etc. Very convincing. I sold mine to a gentleman with the EXPRESS KNOWLEDGE that it was a repro, and he happily gave me $200. Turns out some of the quality repros made of good silver are still "relatively" valuable, but nothing in comparison to the real thing.

Matt, did you send the ring to Don? Has he said one way or the other or just given an initial opinion?

Maybe you can direct him to the thread and clear it up for us?
