I see this type of ring on Ebay all the time...and if that's an RZM mark on the inside it's definitely fake...

It is, however, disturbing. It Used to be, the way that the prongs were mounted in these cap skulls was a quick red flag to see. The little disks on the bases of the prongs generally meant they had a chance. But now, the fakers have Finally gotten around to realizing this, and this means that now All skulls like these will have to be closer scrutinized and examined with minute criteria to make some sort of determination on their authenticity.

I moved the thread to the rings forum but the cap skull should really have been placed in the SS metal cap insignia forum. However, I don't believe this will be necessary as the gentlemen above have given the answers you seek.
