    Night and Fog:
An old short movie from 1955 but definitely a skin crawler. The Amazon synopsis reads: Ten years after the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, filmmaker Alain Resnais documented the abandoned grounds of Auschwitz. One of the first cinematic reflections on the horrors of the Holocaust, Night and Fog (Nuit et Brouillard) contrasts the stillness of the abandoned camps' quiet, empty buildings with haunting wartime footage. With Night and Fog, Resnais investigates the cyclical nature of man's violence toward man and presents the unsettling suggestion that such horrors could come again.

    Memory of the Camps:
Another older film from 1985 but quite interesting. Amazon synopsis:Sixty years ago (1945), Allied troops marching into Germany at the end of World War II found evidence of atrocities which have tortured the world's conscience ever since. As these troops entered Nazi concentration camps and faced the horrors of gas chambers, medical experimentation labs, crematoria, and haunted, starving survivors, they made a film record of what they saw. "Frontline" gave the film its first world broadcast in 1985.

    The Diary of Anne Frank:
From 1959 with Shelley Winters. An excellent classic.

    QB VII:
Originally, a 5 hour mini series in 1974. Amazon synopsis: Adapted from the worldwide best-seller by Leon Uris, QB VII tells the compelling story of the gripping court battle between a Polish-born doctor and the American author who accuses him of having performed atrocious experiments on concentration camp prisoners during World War II. Starring an international cast including Anthony Hopkins, Ben Gazzara, Lee Remick, Leslie Caron, Juliet Mills and Dan O' Herlihy, QB VII is superlative drama and epic entertainment.

"Upon his return to Auschwitz, Muhsfeldt, a committed mass murderer, had an unusual relationship with renowned Jewish-Hungarian pathologist Dr. Miklós Nyiszli, who was forced to carry out autopsies on behalf of Dr Josef Mengele. Dr. Nyiszli commented that Muhsfeldt's blood pressure was high, and inquired as to whether this could be related to the recent increase in 'traffic', as the mass murder of newly arrived victims was euphemistically called. Muhsfeldt replied angrily that it made no difference to him, whether he shot one person or eighty. If his blood pressure was too high, it was because he drank too much he said" (Wikipedia)

    Au Revoir les Enfants

A story about a Carmilite boarding school in occupied France and the interactions between young students. Among these children are three Jews being hidden by Priest who run the school. Eventually the story moves on through eyes of one child named Julian who befriends one of the Jewish children in hiding. There are many touching scenes with the indignities of Vichy France visible and out in the open. One of the best scenes of the movie is when Vichy supporting police Officers try to remove an old dignified Jewish man out of a restaurant and are confronted by German officers who are annoyed with the scene. Produced in 1987...it is usually subtitled in English.
