Yes Chris, KL-Buchenwald is open to the public. Allow yourself at least a few hours, as it is quite a large site. The permanent exhibitions are very interesting. There is a thread within the forum, with some of the images I took when I visited.
Regards,
Carl
p.s. To avoid distractions whilst attempting to take photographs, it is better to arrive early, or late.

Haunting is a very good description of these pictures. Thanks for posting them.

Haunting and cold the snow pictures tell the story the best!

In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig. CE
Here's one to add . . . the "roundhouse" at KL Mauthausen - view from the outside . . . and view from the inside, looking out.
Odd, how all the towers are Different in construction. The ones with glass windows must have functioned more like control towers, as it's difficult to picture how they could have fired on any unruly or escaping inmates. They must have had radio communications inside them, I would think? The others-the more familiar style that are plain wood and open to the air-those are the most iconic, I think. You see them and immediately you think "prison camp"! Impressive photos!

Do any of these KL towers have or had Heavy MG mounts?
