2nd pattern SS camo smock, real?

Hey guys, here is an 2nd pattern camo smock i am being offered....... i have no ideas on this, camo has become my new interest and i just picked up a few very good reference books, however other collectors with more experience would help too! Thanks guys!

Looks way too nice for me, i think it is an old repro.... great for display with a few other items i have...... any opinions are greatly appreciated!

This is one of the so called "pink smocks". Very controversial items. Some like them, while some do not.

They first surfaced in the early 1980's, when I first handled one.

I would not buy one.

I was under the impression that the reason for so much doubt on these was that it was assumed that the base colour (pink) was a wrongly applied dye, is that correct

Is the only issue with this smock the base color? In some of the pics,it does not look any shde of pink at all. What about construction and the material? I like the fact that the inside pockets are HBT. This smock supposedly came from a known collection.

The problem is, these have now been in collections for well over 25 years.

Bob Hritz owns one and he bought it from Johannes Floch and he says he found in them in bales in Czechoslovakia.

For me, at best, these are post war made. Possibly for the Czech Army. There is certainly a difference in the print repeat pattern.

How does Bob feel about his? Obviously at one time he thought it was real. I know ,according to camo uniforms of the SS,many different types and variants of any of these smocks and other clothing items. Even alot of field made and captured fabric stocks, you could drive yourself crazy with all the "could be's",lol .....

I think Bob is still happy with it, but it is not my place to say. You would need to talk to Bob. As I said before, these are controversial items.
