Allg/SS Shoulder Board Query
I've only been aware of the 6 strand Allg/SS Officers Board for Untersturmfuhrer through to Hauptsturmfuhrer.
Was there ever a regulation 4 strand Alllg/SS board ?
On page 97 of " SS uniforms,Insignia and Accoutrements" by A.Hayes there is a pic of a "Germania" Officer and his shoulder board looks to have only 4 strands.
Cheers
Murray

Re: Allg/SS Shoulder Board Query
Hello I posted this on WAF a few years ago and was told this is a first pattern board that was replaced with the six row pattern in 1936. I can't remember were I got it but was in the mid 70s.

The insignia chapter in the work on the Uniforms, Organization & History of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler by Roger James Bender & Stan Cook actually makes reference to this change from the first-pattern four-strand boards to the second-pattern six-strand boards, giving the date as October 1934.
The usual standard references - Mollo, Angolia etc. - don't seem to make any mention of it, though. (Although I must admit I have not looked too thoroughly, as it is getting late and I am about to sign off for now.)

The Mollo and Angolia books were the first I turned to... but I haven't found a reference to the 4 strand board in them.

$534 for a 4 strand board. It must be a rare item to be worth that kind of money.
