I don't know about the maker but I think FB will attest that the grey interior caps also come with the runes and circle printed in black. If memory serves mine also has a maroon colored sweatband. Got from Dave D. in the late 60's. Quite scarce.

Yes, indeed, I think there is a Lubstein variant of this kind of Sonderanfertigung.
It was originally sh!t canned by various savants, a fact against which I protested with much vehemence.

I did a quick check on mine and it's mfgr. is #81 as well.

Since you made no explanation other than they were at auction, my first impression was that you were possibly the seller and had sent them to auction and trying to get the best price you could for them.

I didnt put much on the original posting as the auction was the next day so i wanted it to be out there soonest.
I was quite surprised when FB gave it the thumbs up. The auction while having numerous military items is from a 'provincial' auction house not one of the specialist militaria ones and i honestly expected it to be a fake item.
There are some nice items in it, the daggers are worth looking at also, diplomatic and a Rohm inscribed SA. Someones collection maybe?
