If you are a new collector than why are you wanting to spend $7,000 on something. Take your time and save your money. With $7,000 you can get many other great third reich items. Do not waste your money on this.
I too suggest starting out with more common/less expensive items.
Some guys are into Iron Crosses, and will try to acquire every
maker, etc. - SS stuff is more difficult to discern for a
beginning collector as this is an area where items
are most copied/reproduced.
Usually, collectors will have a specific theme in mind, and focus
their collections on this theme, but it is hard if you like all
aspects and eras of militaria to stick to one group....!
I'll be at the 'Toronto Military Show', Saturday November 12th,
and I will be wearing a USMC desert camo cap and a USN 'G1'
leather jacket with fur collar.........
Regards,
Steve.
I'll be there and will say Hello.
My Collection will only consist of things that I really like.. I'm also a car nut .. and I bring the same passion to militaria .. meaning, If I don't really really want something, it's not worth having.. So my collection will consist of a small number of items .. but they will be things that excite me and I feel passionate about. The cap is one of those things.

Here's a pic of the inside label not shown previously. Showing just for the hell of it .. I will be waiting for a different cap.
I believe this cap made the rounds a while back and failed the test of authenticity. The tag is the kiss of death in this matter, in fact.
