This man Manzie on the other site mentioned the piping, which does look somewhat off; the Leimleinen, i.e. buckram, is also somewhat odd; and, the way I tell is the feel of the Abzeichentuch, that is badge cloth.
The shape of one of the patches is also odd. The piping is of a distinct kind, and the fakes generally fail to duplicate it. Also, this kind of request is often a shot in the dark and a guess.

i keep looking at that piping as well. there is something "loose" about it. to my eye the "gauge", or individual strand thickness, looks off. it would be nice to see some sharply focused pictures with a straight on perspective.

These were passed on to me along with other war-trophies...But I don't collect SS and I would like to sell them, but I won't ever knowingly sell a reproduction...Thanks for your input! Glenn

Personally, I'm satisfied that these are authentic, early tabs...The strands are identical to the ones on the above greatcoat collar. Great photos, thanks!
