I noted the source in my reply as I know it contains mistakes , but I figured it this area it would be relevant and close to correct .
Sorry for my tirade. It was not meant for you, dear friend. It was meant for this lousy book, which I had in hand recently, and was irritated with it for another time.
It is also cited every hour on other sites, hence my extra Zorn. Thanks to you all for your wonderful collegiality and great learning.

My comment was also reflective of the generalized tendency to rely on the internet as a source without any use of books whatsoever.
Being a reactionary to this trend, I reacted.
Thanks to Andreas for unraveling my answer with his customary patience and intelligence.
If there is one insight I can offer from the work here, none of the secondary works on the insignia of the Allgemeine SS are anywhere near complete and exhaustive.
Mollo remains the best, though, in my jaundiced view.
Angolia has no foot notes at all.

I agree FB. Angolia "hides" himselves by not using footnotes,
but with my friend Andrew be careful in some ways, as I have
found out some footnotes are not correct. And so one cannot
check it where he says he found it! But whatever, his books
are still the best and that for sooooooo many years.
