Article about: Men of the 65. SS-Standarte Schwarzwald wearing the ultra rare SS Kraetzchen with second pattern Totenschaedel. Possibly the only photograph in existence that show Allgemeine SS wearing this

    I can only guess the two gentlemen without jackets have been transfered from the SA into the Allgemeine SA and are awaiting proper uniforms. Both are wearing shoes with gaiters also.

    Very interesting to see these very early SS männer with allready the 2nd type of TK on their 'Krätschen'...
    Does someone has an explenation on this???

    Dear Kris,

    I had seen various pics from 1934 with the 2nd pattern skull in wear. However most had worn the 1st pattern Skull in this time Frame but some already the later pattern.

    Most standard references state that the second-pattern skull was introduced in 1934.

    However, while this is the year that it saw widespread use, it is actually already seen in photographs from 1933.
