    Many thanks for the further information Friedrich-Berthold, as Ade has said it is indeed a slip on type. It's a very well made piece but has obviously been worn, and has the remains of a paper label.

    Thanks once again for the interesting informatiom Friedrich-Berthold, I'm a little disappointed that it seems likely that the strap was worn on a grey uniform, my original idea that it was worn by the Germanic SS is in that case improbable.
