SO BEAUTIFUL, and SUCH AN WORK OF ART.
Thanks
Brian
Thanks, whatever the merits of the thing, these objects in more or less original form seem to have vanished from the market. Very few are on offer that have not somehow been screwed up somehow. Such was not the case a decade or so ago, but then I do not really have much insight into the ebb and flow of these things any longer. And I have much less interest, either.

What would you think such a complete get-up would be worth? Let's say for an SS Standarte uniform, NCO, including visor. Let's say the tunic, trousers and hat could be linked (all RZM) by association. Boots, belt, shirt and tie included (almost impossible to link to original owner).
What would you think a fair price, one that would tempt you?

Re: Another allgemeine~ss hat for discussion
FB, the cap in the fourth picture of post #14.. To whom is it named? Do you know anything about him? (If it's a name tag at all).

The cap is named to a Dr. Gesler or Gessler. I do not know who he was, as I do not have time to do the research and my experience with the for hire or payola "research" personages is that they make errors. The SS had a lot of Dr's as you know, and this man was surely one of them. I like to think of him as a racial scientist qua war criminal who would be deeply disturbed that his cap is in my little collection. In any case, the cap is in a fine state of preservation and is of early make. Ones like it are on the Whammond site for four times the price I paid for it several years ago. Who knows the truth of any of it?
I am not as interested in personalities as some of you, really. I just want the thing to be authentic.
Happy hats to all.
As regards Mr. Bruce's question on prices, I have no idea what these things are worth now.
It is difficult to ascertain the price of anything in this combination of deflation and inflation, and I do not attend militaria shows because of my work schedule.
