Bravo. And the black caps that did not conform to the pattern, to boot!
The image is marked 1931, but it is surely later. You tell me when, though.
Thank you everyone for the information and photos.

How much more pleasant is this thread than the one on helmets onto which I tossed my screed this day.
My thanks for the congenial and convivial work we all do together to learn something, and to avoid the death of tissue in the process.
Happy bands and caps in the search for knowledge.
Why must so much on these sites be so terribly painful and conflicted?
Is there not enough of the above in the wider world to satisfy whatever malevolent urges exist beyond this screen?
It is blasphemy to bring David's Marat into connection with torched and rusted Mercedes cabrios in today's Berlin, but something joins the two, I think.
I just spent about two weeks in Berlin just now, and was witness to this mayhem.
Thank you all for sharing these great pictures .. !
Personally , my eye was drawn to the one of mr. jHAM , where an EARLY 25th Fuss Standarte member who could not be bothered to have his Splinten-broken Danziger TK professionally soldered & repaired .
Instead he chose to have it put back in place by sewing thread through the eyeholes .
Lesson learned : NOT only the wellknown wartime pictures ,
but also the economical crisis of the prewar period will show all kinds of makeshift & affordable repairs .
The man on the right - does that look like a tailor-applied rank tab ?
So once again , thanks - I so much like to see these rare early pictures shared , I want to keep learning ..
