How about four rows of three threads in bright blue .. ?
Obviously , German economy by this time was so efficient , as not even to waste usefull colours of thread on the reverse of insignia ..

Haha! There's a member on WAF whose signature reads "I thought this was a manly hobby for manly men, now I find out I need to be an expert on sewing, fabrics and embroidery."

When one design is finished after a "Run" it is easier to "Tie" on to an existing thread rather than to put "Thread" through a small needle... A "Tie" on is much easier also when multiple heads are re-coned for long production runs... Thus IMO a different colour thread will be present slightly but stitched over only to be seen on the rear of the item.. That will be hidden from anyone's even slightest concern... G

Anyway, this beautiful skull will be on its way to me tomorrow (thanks, Sid!). I think it will look good right between the collar tabs at the bottom of this frame (I'll space them out a bit):

Mr. Berthold is a great wealth of information pertaining to fabrics / textiles... You should seek some of his prior posts and threads... No offense daveward... You are a great wealth of information as well... I read your new posts quite often and learn from them, although it ( Your ) collecting and mine differ, it is a great pleasure to learn from an avid collector of such items as yourself... Gwar,
