When one design is finished after a "Run" it is easier to "Tie" on to an existing thread rather than to put "Thread" through a small needle... A "Tie" on is much easier also when multiple heads are re-coned for long production runs... Thus IMO a different colour thread will be present slightly but stitched over only to be seen on the rear of the item.. That will be hidden from anyone's even slightest concern... G
