The garrison portion of Dachau versus the concentration camp was a US barracks until the 1970s, in fact, whereby the contents of the warehouses became souvenirs. Certain young Europeans disbelieve this fact, for their own odd reasons, but
it is still a fact. Bob and I grew up with these insignia in various ways. In fact, a chunk of my collection has a plain Bavarian association, as the US garrison operated there from the spring of 1945 until this day. Munich once had a large US presence, including the RZM building, which was HQ to Army and Air Force Exchange Service, known and loved by us all stationed in the FR of G. No doubt, the contents of its ware houses were also transformed into souvenirs, since US Americans regale in regalia souvenirs.
