Very true, as well. I wish I had my original Wellhausen cap. It was a very nice cap.

The Hoheitszeichen cost half as much as a whole black SS enlisted cap of simple make.
Absolutely but I'm not surprised at all. I've been to Hand and Lock in London http://www.handembroidery.com/ where hand embroidery is still done.
Taken from their website "It takes 7 years to become an embroiderer with Hand & Lock, the Embroidery Designer is an integral part of that process."
I have no doubt that such standards were as high if not higher in Germany during the period but because we are a bunch of ignorant nincompoops, very little value has ever been placed on these hand embroidered items. I remember when I first started collecting and was shocked by how cheap "bullion" insignia was in comparision to other mass produced and stamped pieces of cheap alloy. I guess that ignorance will never change because nowadays, it's not about the skill or effort involved in making something which is now antique, it's about something else called collector desirability.
Not all of us are "ignorant nincompoops" . . . one centerpiece of decor in my home is a once undesired fahne dedicated to a Bakers Guild - albeit one of forced indenture, all related to the moment in time for which it was produced. I recognized the great amount of skill embellished upon it . . . even after it was ridiculed after I attempted to point out it's most valid attributes. So be it - I have something very nice adorning my wall, and when it comes down to, to each his own . . .
The people who made the flags made the cuff titles and likely the birdies on the caps, too.
I also like Brezel, too, quite a bit.
What at great piece of work that banner is. Well worth displaying. Thanks for showing it.
FB - do you ever get the feeling, that if it weren't for all your unceasing effort to post all of the photos, that these topics, and this forum would be forever silent? I do. Strange how all the really good "chit-chat"and daily interactions all across the spectrum has just abrubtly dropped off - wouldn't you agree?
Yes, you are right. Your Pretzel banner is a handsome, piece, too.
Truth be told, I enjoy looking at my own images, and, if, by chance, such benefits others, then it is all to the good.
I am loyal to Adrian and Bob for their solidarity in some things, and I have wanted to help them out here.
Also, I so dislike the other place that I wanted to draw away their clientele, which we have done to a degree.
But the on line thing is too fickle and disembodied, really.
