What a splendid cuff title. Originally the the inscription was supposed to be in white thread for lower ranks and aluminium for officers as you can see from this portion of the order governing insignia for the Politischen Bereitschaften published in May, 1934. However, a few months after this another order called for all ranks to wear aluminium. The early price list mentioned by Peter calls for silver grey emroidery. All very confusing.

In the Muetzenfabrik thread based on the Uniformen Markt document, we inquire along this line of evidence in some detail. The 21st century collector in an over regulated and globalized world seeks some certainty where none existed in the past. Mr. Derek's documents and the visual evidence are as likely as we are going to get to a truth which is more complex. Do yourself a favor and read all of Wim Saris' documents on the other site to get some sense of the issue. In any case, Mr. Peter's object is remarkable and there are many pictures of this insignia in wear as Mr. Derek has shown us. Thanks for a nice thread.

I just bought another of the Heimdal picture books on the LAH, but I shall likely never get it because of the Yemeni exploding computer printer thingy and the air line of communication from Knesebeckstrasse to here. The Heimdal authors seem to have gotten as many LAH images out of the archives as exist in a published source.

Also, have you see the on line Czech CTK on line archive? It has a lot of Heydrichiana.

Thanks to all for the valuable knowledge here.
