I wonder why no armbands, and i would like to see a close up of those uniforms, and see the cut, and the insignia on them.

Are those American Bund , or what ?

They have been identified elsewhere as members of the "Friends of New Germany", the predessor to the German-American Bund. They are members of its "Special Guard", apparently something of an SS equivalent.

Since we are on the subject of the American Bund, here is a really rare American Bund radio, I remember seeing one of these about 20 years ago.

Full information on "The Special Guard" as well as a close up showing detail on the uniform may be seen on pages 25-27 of my book "They Too Were Americans" printed by Bender publishing. The uniforms by the way were mfg in New York City.

Also 11 of the 19 members signed the back of the photo, which appears in the book as well.
