Great image of Gruppe Ost motorcycle riders
Here is an image I found in Concord's Waffen SS (1) Forging an Army 1934-1943 showing what is described as an SS motorcycle team participating in a rally at the Doberitz camp. The caption dates it to mid 1930s but I think it is a little earlier. Notice the cap insignia on the crash helmets and OST collar insignia. Thanks to all.

Here's another great photo of German motorcyclists in Munich I believe.

I imagine that rather than mid thirties the photo I posted came from the Aug 1933 rally of Gruppe Ost.
It's interesting to note that the motorcycle helmet worn by the chap in the sidecar appears to bear the (early type?) totenkopf and adler that can be seen on all SS mutzes, the rider has as well I think, i've never seen that before. Thanks for pointing that out.

I am sure you are right. You have other images of this event, I am sure. In the picture book "1933 Das Jahr der Deutschen" includes other images of these motorcycle SS persons.I imagine that rather than mid thirties the photo I posted came from the Aug 1933 rally of Gruppe Ost.
