Thank you, dear colleague. I smash all the moths I can find with my bare hands. It is a thing of glee. I will wrap up the cap once I finish admiring it in the kind of honey moon thingy.
It is a riddle, really. It is not unlike this color of cloth ca. 1935. That is, the cap cover and the swatch of cloth from my Munich cloth wholesaler's catalog, with the actual mention of earth brown and SS.....who knows? Who cares?

I do hate moths, of course. More than I fear the interaction of plastic with metal or the woolens, which is an another issue. But sunlight, dust, and moths are my main sources of trepidation.

A cynic would remove the cap insignia, sell those for three thousand dollars, put on bum insignia, and sell the cap over again.
I have other caps with alu cap Totenschaedel, also more or less from the same era.

Does someone have an image of an alu Assmann Hoheitszeichen with three p r o n g s.....at hand?
I have seen such a thing, but I have little time to search my lousy, disorganized files.

I can't help you with you image search, but you have purchased a very nice cap. It contrasts nicely with all of the black.

thanks to you, as well. I did want to show the object, but my goal here is other than to garner kudos, though I appreciate it. The thing belongs to us all via this medium, and I wanted to enrich your photo files as a reference.
