The item number and price tag found in the cap in post N. 22. I am sure that no good deeds goes unpunished, and this tag will now be nicely copied by the malevolent eyes that gaze here over my shoulder...

a Lubstein made cap, ex Stezelberger collection
a somewhat similar cap, from a tailor near Koeln
an enlisted cap, sold recently by a leading US dealer. These are quite rare objects.
a cap from a Vienna source in 1998; sold to a US collector in 2006 and then off across the waters to an eager, new home---appreciating in price as it went along. This cap also speaks to the flimsy, beat up posture of many of these authentic caps. The Totenschaedel on this cap was a crude casting, likely its badges had been stripped or whatever. But the cap was real. Das ist die Hauptsache.
