again...another para military sports competition of what the caption says are Allgem. SS units from Hamburg. Exceptional here is the use of rifle, which bespeaks the Pol. Bereitschaft or who knows. I had not thought that Allgem. SS units carried weapons of this kind, unless they did so extra for this kind of competition. More black woolens made pretty foetid, indeed.

There is a volume of his speeches edited in the mid-1970s as well as the famous volume of H. Heiber of his letters. It makes for some pretty frightening reading, considering this man had the chance to put into operation some pretty nasty ideas. It suggests that education is not always an especially good thing, granted the father's biography; that is, Heini H. was the product of a certain privilege and rank in society. A young woman related to the brother, Gebhard, has written an interesting book in Germany on the Himmler family. It repays reading to give context to these images. This work is in contrast to the daughter, Gudrun, who is pretty awful, it seems.
