Article about: Have had these two id tags for a while, I have serious doubts about the "WAFFEN SS" one, don't know if they were stamped on the back this way. The other I don't know for sure. Good

Have had these two id tags for a while, I have serious doubts about the "WAFFEN SS" one, don't know if they were stamped on the back this way. The other I don't know for sure. Good news is always appreciated and bad news humbly accepted.

The SS is bad. The KM might be good.

"wehrmachtsman" just read the tag. The designation makes no sence.

I agree with John. Don't even dream of buying any SS tag without making a big study of them.

    Cheers, Ade.

I'm starting to realize how bad it is out there, I thought helmets were the most faked items. I'm learning fast but I started collecting YEARS ago and only found this site about a year ago, like John said, its a minefield and I've probably stepped on more than my share. I'll be posting more of my collection for honest opinions. Thank You

John, anything that can make the fakers money is faked. They are even faking tinnies now ( i think they have run out of everything else) The most prolific are SS items because of the money that can be involved. and believe it or not it was started in Germany in 1946!!! ( that being the earlist recorded fake)

I will say that sometimes a person may not be told in depth why the item is bad, Fakers read too

The one thing you will get on this forum, and not anywhere else is honesty....................and sometimes that can hurt

Thumbs up Re: Hopefully a good SS "dog tag"

John, Thanks for the kind words, I'll take honesty EVERY time because I can learn from it. I've learned more on this site in the past year than in all my years collecting. I have much more to post, I know I'll get good and bad news but I'll be better for it. Thanks, John
