I was poking on Craigslist this morning keeping my eye out for an antiques desk locally and came across the below. It was just posted and I have not contacted the seller so the poor photos below are all I have to go on right now. What caught my eye was the side cap. It appears to be 4th reich to my untrained eyes but given that I have zero experience I thought it couldn't hurt to ask the professionals.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

this hat seems an "unconvincing marriage"...need more detailed pics,if possible, to give a more serious opinion on it...

Thank you for your input. Before engaging the seller I wanted to check and see if there was anything I was missing. The multitude of original items on here led me to believe it wasn't good.

My apologies in advance if this was posted in the wrong forum. I know there is a cap authentication forum but this also appears to be attempting and SS item.

Very common genuine items used as bait to entice the unsuspecting in to believing the cap is genuine.

No worries! I just happened to see it while looking for something else. Thanks to this fine website I already had a pretty good idea what I was looking at. At least I know I'm learning.

The Shea Beaver book has many illustrations of real SS side caps.

I know FB, I am brain damaged. Way to many punches to the old noggin. I do not think the river of booze and ocean of beer I have consumed in my lifetime has helped either.
