Thanks. It is an extraordinary cap without any RZM-ing.
The initials AK give a clue, especially if you measure the cap size and then go through all the personnel files to ascertain the sizes of the Koepfe.
My life is already cut short, so this project awaits the next owner in the unending procession of time.
The bad news, and there is usually a kicker, that there are spaces for two more zinc Buschstaben in the sweat band, and these have been carefully extracted.
So the name is AKXX or whatever.....

The Paspel is not correct for this rank during the period where embroidery was in white silk. Per Mollo, as of May 1933 the rank of SS-Obertruppführer would be bordered by 1.5mm white twisted cord. Moving forward from October of 1934, the Kragenspiegel would be bordered by 1.5 mm black and aluminum twisted cord. The evolution from white silk, to grey, and, finally, to aluminum embroidery in the middle of 1937 would serve to help distinguish the earlier tunics from those of late. The examples in question appear to be bordered by white and black twisted cord, similar to the SA type, I believe. According to Mollo, the Mitteiliungsblatt der RZM No. 4 (6/23/34) lists the regulations for the white embroidery (ranks up to Stabsscharführer), however, when did the regulations exactly allow for the grey silk to be utilized?
Note the shoulder cord as well, also changed to black and Aluminium in October 1934. Prior to October of 1934, this would have been appropriate for ranks up to Obertruppführer.
Not to mention that embroidery and that Litzen that nobody is comfortable with...pfui!

We see in FB's hint above the rank of Sturmführer which, pre October '34, would be the starting rank that would have the twisted Aluminium and black Paspel as outlined in the Mitteiliungsblatt der RZM of 6/23/34.

The transition from the white silk embroidery to the grey silk embroidery was in 1935 if memory serves. I included it somewhere.
