My First Blackie-Der Fuhrer MantelWelcome to a forum that has much more knowledge and information of merit as concerns SS material, and also far more black SS regalia than as had on certain other less merit worthy places. Very nice overcoat with very rare insignia. Your interests will be well served here.

This is not a Kindergarten. See attachments for the proper names with greatest accuracy and descriptive clarity.

Thanks for yours. I have no idea what the double red circle means. The coat has the normal VA size and issue marks, which is what one want to see in this kind of thing. My only remote worry would be that the double circle is some costume mark from the ex USSR or CSSR or some ex socialist nation state, in which case you have to make double sure that the badges are organic to the coat. However, the coat is exactly the type of issue enlisted coat of the end of the 1930s. I have an identical one for the Allgemeine SS which I got in 1975. Also, the badges on the coat look fine, too, but in cases of SSVT and SSTV one has to be extra alert. However, you have experience with SSVT regalia and know your material. Very nice piece. You should buy the ex Coleman officer's coat for a doctor on the staff of the Allgemeine SS territorial organization. Once more, welcome to this site and thank you for sharing your material. Shea has several later model peaked caps for NCOS and such on offer that are of the same era as your coat.

    Hi Fredrich,
I have look closely at the coat and I havn't see any red flag. All the insignia seems untouched to me.
I sometime saw red RZM marks inside some Allgemeine tunic.I read that marks like these where Stamped at every metre of a bolt of cloth. Can be something like this?

Thanks. Certain maker's of textiles stamped their own maker's mark on their product against the regulations of the party. The RZM stamps were to appear at intervals on approved textiles, and maker's marks of any kind were forbidden, but they do appear fairly often. Your red stamp could be such a maker's mark, which it likely is. I included such an "SS Trikot" stamp in my response to you. In any case, if you believe the badges are ok, then they are thus. I hate to make assessments from across the oceans. Congratulations for your fine collection and thanks for your generous sharing with all of us.

The stamping of textiles is treated in the Miitteilungsblatt d RZM and the Herstellungsvorschriften, all of which we have interpreted here at length....and which is not understood on other sites.

    Hi Friedrich,
I have a question for you if possible.
My dream will be to find a Black visor like your (excuse if I used your photo).
Did will it fit well with the coat or is too early in your opinion?

    Cheers
    Francesco
