Re: My First Blackie-Der Fuhrer Mantel
My Wagner cap is shaped like the cap on said site, but it is in better shape. I cannot understand what makes said cap an SSTV or SSVT cap, but it is a nice piece with minor flaws. The visor has or has not been amended, and fears in this aspect are without base.
I will try to photograph it when my jet lag is less.

Re: My First Blackie-Der Fuhrer Mantel
Revealing images. I must take a picture of my Wagner cap, because it has a much more saddle shape.
I also have to look at my own black overcoat, since I have not examined it in years.

Re: My First Blackie-Der Fuhrer Mantel
Very nice. There is contemporary reference in UM to the fact that these black caps were more or less surplus in the middle of the war. Very attractive piece you have. I have several myself of this type in more or less the same state of preservation; however, the piece I mention is much more saddle like, and I had a similar one in the early 1970s which was also very saddle in appearance. This type of cap you illustrate came into use ca. 1936/7. Shea has several for sale at the moment.
